Everybody, it seems, wants to be in the TV business. OK, it’s really the video business, but it’s the same thing the TV networks have been doing for years: producing original television content.
The WSJ reports that Facebook is looking to spend A BILLION DOLLARS on original video content for its Watch video platform. Recently, Apple said they were going to spend A BILLION DOLLARS.
If that sounds like a lot of money, it’s because it is. But that pales in comparison to what the TV networks are spending every year and what Netflix and Amazon are spending.
