Everybody, it seems, wants to be in the TV business.  OK, it’s really the video business, but it’s the same thing the TV networks have been doing for years:  producing original television content.

The WSJ reports that Facebook is looking to spend A BILLION DOLLARS on original video content for its Watch video platform.  Recently, Apple said they were going to spend A BILLION DOLLARS.

If that sounds like a lot of money, it’s because it is.  But that pales in comparison to what the TV networks are spending every year and what Netflix and Amazon are spending.

From Various Sources

$6B        Netflix
$4.5B     Amazon
$4.3B     NBC
$4B        ABC
$2-$5B   YouTube (Various estimates)
$2B        Hulu
$2.5B     HBO
