Snapchat is about to launch a self-service ad platform. Digiday reports the interface will allow you to do Snap ads. Snap ads are full-screen videos (vertical) that show up between stories.
Previously, you had to buy these through a Snapchat ad partner that would manage the process. That left a lot of small businesses out of the mix. It also added costs for a third-party to manage the campaigns.
You could buy geo-filtered ads by self-serve before now, but not Snap ads.
Advertising is a big push for Snapchat right now and it’s got a lot of ground to make up.
While 75% of marketing professionals in the US said they plan to spend more on Google AdWords in the next year, only 15% said they’ll be increasing Snapchat spending (eMarketer).
In fact, of the 12 categories surveyed, spending on Snapchat came in 12th.
