Google techs are expected to spend a portion of their time working on special projects outside their job area. Inside the company, they call it “Area 120.” It’s an incubator for experimental projects well before they are ready for release.
Prior Area 120 projects included Google Maps, AdSense, and even Gmail.
Now, Google has opened it up to outsiders to help test drive some of the projects. If you’re interested in joining the Early Access Program, go to Area 120 and signup for notices.
