NFL ratings were down this past season.  The anthem protests, off field-behavior, Thursday night games, less-than-stellar prime time matchups:  it adds up to about a 10% loss in NFL ratings compared to previous years.  This year’s SuperBowl was one of the 10 most watched TV programs in U.S. history, but it was off 7% from last year.

Can the cause be isolated?  According UBS, the #1 reason people watched less football?  Protests during the national anthem.
