66% of US thinks it is, 58% around the world agree.
It’s not just you. People around the world are questioning what’s happening their world these days. In fact, More than half (58%) think their society is “broken.”
71% lack confidence in their government and even more, 81%, lack confidence in their political party.
The survey, done by Ipsos, talked to adults 18–65 in Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, France, Britain, Germany, Hungary, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Peru, Poland, Serbia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Turkey and the United States. It seems there’s a lot of common ground.
People in Japan, Israel, India, and Canada seemed to feel the best about their society, while Poland, Spain, Brazil and Mexico feel the worst. The United States was in the middle of the pack, but still a majority in the U.S. (66%) feel society is broken.
Not a lot of confidence in the government to do something about “fixing society” either.
But really not a lot of confidence in many institutions.
The discontent extends to the media as well. For U.S. journalists, it can’t be fun to note that people living in South Korea, Mexico, Serbia, or Hungary have more faith in their media than here at home.
