Regardless of what you think about national media, a lack of journalists covering local issues is a bad thing. According to a new study, more than 1,000 counties in the US do not have any full-time journalists covering them.
Since 2000, the number of journalists has declined by 75%. And it’s widespread; only 4% of counties nationwide have a similar number of journalists as they did a generation ago.
